Most people are completely unprepared for their first and hopefully last encounter with criminal law. One thing is certain: as a person affected by criminal proceedings, the role of accused or “just” witness is never pleasant. Letters from the police, public prosecutors and courts often leave more questions unanswered than they answer – the same usually applies to personal encounters with law enforcement authorities.

An additional problem is that the police, public prosecutors and courts have to fulfil their state mandate and are therefore completely unsuitable as contact persons for your own interests as a person affected! Only your lawyer is fully committed to your rights and interests as a client and is subject to a comprehensive duty of confidentiality.
